How to Send and Receive Mail at Columbia

Welcome to Columbia University! As you prepare for the start of the new academic year, please review this information about how to send and receive mail and packages on campus.

Your Address

The following address and format should be used for undergraduate mail, where #### designates the student's UNI. As of Fall 2021, the student's UNI will act as a mailbox number. If you are a junior or senior who was assigned a mailbox number in prior years, it is still valid; however, you may also access your mail using your UNI in place of your mailbox number if you so choose.

Student’s Full Name
#### Columbia Student Mail
70 Morningside Drive
New York, NY 10027-7236

Format

Web forms may vary in how your address can be submitted. Try to include your #### UNI using one of the lines typically provided: either Address 1, Address 2, or Apartment.

The word "box" should never be used in the address. This is your address for both letters and packages. Mail should never be sent to a student's residence hall address. The Student Mail Center is located in the lower level of Wien Hall.

Receiving Packages & Mail

COVID-19 Quarantine for New or Returning Students

Students who reside in the Columbia Housing undergraduate residence halls and are required to quarantine upon returning to campus are eligible to have their mail and packages delivered to their room.

When you receive the email notifying you that a package/mail has arrived at the Student Mail Center, just respond to that email to let Columbia Mail know you're quarantining. Please also confirm the building and room number you're staying in.

If you have any questions, please send an email to [email protected] or call (212)-854-0100 during business hours.

Students Not in Quarantine

You will receive a notification email for pickup each time a package arrives on campus. You can visit the Student Mail Center in-person during the hours listed here (please review the COVID-19 safety protocols before coming to the Center).

If not picked up within 7 days, a second email will be sent. You will have an additional 7 days before packages are returned to sender. When shipped a package marked “perishable,” an email titled “Perishable Item” will be sent to you. Perishable and oversized bulk packages are held for no more than 7 days, as no refrigeration is available and space is limited.
